Hide column by dataIndx

Is it possible to hide column by dataIndx?
Instead of using index:

colModel[0].hidden = true;

Yes, in that case get reference to column with getColumn method.

  grid.getColumn({ dataIndx: 'dataIndx of column' }).hidden = true;
